On Sunday evening, two students from Pine Tree Academy presented their written submissions to Freeport community members and Judy Krzywon presented one more selection for a student who could not attend. The event was hosted by the Freeport Historical Society at South Freeport Church. These three students were awarded recognition for their essays and poems inspired by artifacts on display at the Historical Society. Paige Tyson, grade 6 (honorable mention in the youth writer's category); Renee Pickard, sophomore (2nd place in the young adult writer's category); and Nick Eastman, sophomore (1st place in the young adult writer's category) represented Pine Tree Academy with their literary works.

Former Bible teacher now dental student, Jamie Trott, and 8 of his classmates from UNE customized mouth guards for PTA soccer players. This was a community service project. The mouth guards will be in school colors, include the school logo, and each student's name. Dr. Davis, located in Cumberland, was gracious enough to host this endeavor!
These are some recent photos from the seniors who are in Mexico for their mission trip. Some activities pictured include: participating in the local church service, passing out clothing to people in villages close by, basking in the sun, helping in the medical clinic, and socializing with friends. Please continue to pray for their efforts. After a tenuous start, the senior class of 2017 was able to make their way to Mexico. The Lord really blessed the students with their travel plans. There was a situation with their plane tickets that was finally worked out at the last minute enabling the group to still proceed with their mission trip. Your continued prayers, for our young people and sponsors, would be appreciated!
During the month of March, the elementary students visited the three constituent churches that support Pine Tree Academy. Students participated in all parts of the worship service. Mrs. Janel Tyson, 7th & 8th grade teacher, said, "It is so important for our young people to be involved in our churches. This gives them the opportunity to preach, tell the children's story, be involved in special music, and worship God openly. They are definite student leaders!" Thank you Portland, Brunswick, & Freeport SDA churches for supporting Pine Tree Academy.
