We Have the Guts!

First and Second Graders have spent some time investigating pumpkins lately! This week we read a book called “How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin?” We’ve cut our pumpkin open and used our hands to scoop it out its guts! So next week we will write about the experience of feeling pumpkin guts. After Mrs. Waterman takes the seeds home to roast them, students will divide into teams and count them. Everyone wrote down their guess as to how many seeds were in our pumpkin. Stay tuned to find out who made the closest guess!

Elementary Harvest Party

On Friday, October 31, 2014, the elementary students at Pine Tree Academy had a Harvest Party. Each student committee planned one rotation for classmates to participate in. Activities included:
Fall Relay (Sports Committee)
Paper Airplane Contest (Student Council Committee)
Popcorn, Apples and Story (School Beautification Committee)
Cookie Pops for PTA Alumni College Students (Community Service Committee)
Pumpkin Craft (Worship Committee)

Pine Tree Academy Elementary Soccer Team Hosts Forestdale SDA School

Pine Tree Academy elementary soccer team hosted a scrimmage game today with sister Seventh-day Adventist school, Forestdale. PTA's elementary team, coached by Allison Wiggin, is made up of students in grades 1-4. Students have practiced and played games within their own team for the majority of the season but seized the opportunity to play another school.

Scarecrow Day, Pre-K & Kindergarten

Annually, Lani Gepford, the Pre K/K teacher, celebrates Scarecrow Day. Students in her class dress up and silently "scare" the other classrooms in the school building. This is not only a fun activity for all of the classes involved, but helps introduce the younger students to the older students, which builds a sense of community.

Photographer, Trent Bell, Visits PTA

Photographer, Trent Bell, spoke for chapel this morning at Pine Tree Academy. He shared his vision for the "Reflect" project which was a gallery of art work highlighting convicts from the Maine State Prison. Each of these convicts wrote letters of advice to their younger selves. Themes in each letter included making better choices and listening to loved ones.
