Annual Door Decorating Contest
Students at Pine Tree Academy (pre-K-12) in Freeport, Maine, collected food and essentials in a donation drive to support the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. This is Pine Tree Academy’s seventh year helping needy families in the community by supporting MCHPP’s outreach program. Students collected and donated 274 items to the program’s food pantry. To inspire and celebrate participation, classrooms competed for the best-decorated door on a holiday theme. Votes were cast via donations — students, faculty and friends dropped canned foods, non-perishable food, and personal items into a “ballot box” next to their favorite door. This year’s winner was the seventh and eighth grade classroom, for their imaginative interpretation of an elf on a shelf.
