Victoria Edmond, Pine Tree Academy Class of 2016, came to visit over the Christmas holiday. We took this opportuity to interview her about her college experience and how PTA influenced her.
What were the most valuable things you learned at Pine Tree Academy? "I learned so many things during my time at PTA. Sometimes, while you're in high school, you think, 'I can't wait to be done with Pine Tree Academy.' But then you graduate and realize how great you had it and what a blessing it was. Pine Tree Academy helped to teach me how to build quality relationships with others. I had to learn how to make new friends during Music, Art and Union Clinics. These opportunities have helped me to make new friends in college. Further, PTA showed me the importance of quality relationships. I have come back to visit and spend time with the people who are still enrolled here because I have missed them. These friendships are so valuable to me. Finally, when I was in science class with Ms. Payne, I complained about how difficult her classes were. I can honestly say that she prepared me thoroughly for my nursing classes. I feel academically prepared overall, but especially in science. What is the hardest adjustment you have had to make? "I decided to go all the way across the country for college. This has been difficult for me because I didn't know ANYONE at Pacific Union College. I made a leap of faith knowing that there wouldn't be the support from home and friends that I was used to. This has been difficult for me; however, it is important for me to stand on my own two feet. I have made new friends and experienced things I would not have on the East Coast." What is something fun you have done in college? "I have had the chance to visit local areas in California and have traveled to surrounding towns. I love seeing new things and trying various activities." What is some advice you have for future Pine Tree Academy graduates? "Ha! This is a funny one coming from me! But here they are: 1. BE ON TIME. I know it's hard. But, start practicing now so you will be ready when you're on your own. 2. Enjoy high school while you can. It will be some of the best times of your life. You will make great memories and friends. 3. While it is important to enjoy high school, don't mess around too much! Take it seriously because it will come back to bite you if you don't."
